Manhattan's Best Beer Gardens

November 17,2021 | By Centennial Properties

As the heat of summer is replaced with crisp, cool fall weather, residents and tourists of Manhattan are looking for fun things to do around the neighborhood. New York City offers a ton of fall activities for those wanting to really get into the spirit of the season, and you can check out this list we recently published on our blog, but there are a number of other ways to enjoy your time, whether you're solo, in need of a fun date idea, or want to take your family somewhere new.

Even though the weather is a bit cooler now, that doesn't mean you have to take outside options completely off of your list. Manhattan is home to some of the best beer gardens in the city, and while there are more establishments than we can cover on this list, we've selected a few of the ones we know are some of the neighborhoods' favorites.

The Beer Garage

The Beer Garage has only been around for a short while, but they quickly gained popularity in the area. This is no surprise, as the owners created this space to make up for what the neighborhood was missing: an intimate, comfortable environment where the bartender will know your name. The space is modeled after an actual auto garage and is filled with vintage decor. They broadcast a full sports lineup so you can catch almost any game. Check out their menu online and consider making a trip to their location on 148 5th Avenue. They're also planning on opening up a second location in one of our Centennial Properties NY buildings in the future.

Houston Hall

A massive beer garden, Houston Hall boasts a huge calendar of events for their customers. On any given day, you can see a DJ set, be part of a themed party, or play a number of drinking games (like beer pong). Houston Hall is not the place for you if you prefer a quiet, calm evening because this place gets pretty busy throughout the week. But if you like a place with more energy, consider visiting this beer garden and trying some of their delicious bar grub, like their pulled pork sliders or Southern fried chicken sandwich.

The Stag's Head

Beer aficionados go to The Stag's Head because of their rotating craft beer list, which includes some of the country's favorites. Sitting in their outdoor garden area is the perfect way to relax after a long day in the office, or to start off a fun-filled weekend with friends. They're also known for their cast iron skillet-baked mac and cheeses, as well as their signature specialty cocktails as well.

Beer Authority

Beer Authority has been voted as one of the top 10 beer gardens in NYC — and for good reason. Their walls are covered with brewery memorabilia, flags, and flat screen televisions. Residents love the space for their rooftop garden, which has a number of communal tables and benches that really give it that neighborhood feel. View their food and drink menus online and make sure to make a stop at Beer Authority in the near future.

Whether you live in Manhattan or like to visit the area for vacation, these are some of the best beer gardens to put on your list of places to try out.
