The Safety Features Every Apartment Building Needs

July 28,2022 | By Centennial Properties

It doesn't matter if you're a tenant, a building owner, a landlord, or a property manager, building safety should always be a top concern. Crime can happen at any place and any time — on your subway commute to work, walking your dog, or coming home from a night out with friends. But one of the last places you want to worry about something bad happening is in your home.

At Centennial Properties, we believe your home should be your safe space. If you rent an apartment in New York City, it's important to find a property that prioritizes your safety by implementing a number of security measures. Because we value the safety and security of our tenants, we've installed a number of security features into our properties that give tenants the peace of mind they deserve.

Below are some of the safety features we believe every apartment building should have.

A Virtual Doorman

This is one of the favorite security features we have, and it's a favorite among our tenants too. You can read more about our virtual doorman (we use Carson) in another one of our blog posts, but we'll quickly recap the benefits of a virtual doorman here. Our tenants have access to the app, which allows them to virtually unlock doors for their guests, submit maintenance requests for repairs, and receive delivery notifications whenever a package is delivered to the property. Having a virtual doorman is not only safe, but it allows us to maintain lower apartment costs as well.

Amazon Key

One of the biggest pain points of living in an apartment building is worrying about your package deliveries. That's why we've implemented Amazon Key into our buildings, which you can read more about here. Amazon's delivery drivers can request access to the property through an app on their phone, they then scan the package barcode before they're allowed to enter the building, and then they can drop off the package right at the tenant's doorstep.

These security features should no longer be the exception, they should be the standard. We're excited to be able to offer these amenities to our tenants, and believe these features are one of their favorite things about renting with us.
