The Ultimate List of NYC Fall Activities

November 1,2021 | By Centennial Properties

Just being in New York City during the fall is an experience in itself. As the temperatures drop and the leaves start to change colors, the city becomes even more mesmerizing. So, it's no surprise that NYC is the go-to place for fall-inspired activities as well.

No matter what your ideal fall season looks like, there are so many options to choose from for everyone — from nature gazing to fall festivals to Halloween events. Whether you live in one of New York's neighborhoods or are visiting the area for a long weekend, here are some activities to consider this season.

New York Comedy Festival

If you're a fan of comedy, the New York Comedy Festival is the best way to see all of your favorite comedians live. Big voices like Michelle Wolf, Nick Kroll, Andrew Santino, Bill Maher, and Michelle Buteau will all be performing. This week-long festival will happen between November 8th to the 14th. You can learn more about this event and buy tickets here.

All Things Halloween

October is in full swing, so there are a number of Halloween events happening all around the city. On October 31st, there will be a Village Halloween Parade happening in Greenwich with over 50,000 zombies, witches, monsters, and giant puppets. If you like trolley tours, you can book a ride with Madame Morbid, which is a trolley group that specializes in ghost stories and dark history. Starting on October 21st, you can also buy tickets for House of Spirits: A Haunted Cocktail Soirée where you can roam a mysterious mansion and experience a night filled with themed cocktails, tarot readings, and more. There are plenty of other Halloween-themed events happening throughout the city, so be sure to do some extra research as well.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Throughout November, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is hosting a new after-dark light show at its grounds. Visitors will be able to walk through the Cathedral of Light tunnel, enjoy an animated light show covering Cherry Esplanade, and also walk through a Fire Garden on Lily Pool Terrace. Read more about this event online, and be sure to grab tickets while you can.

The Amazing Maize

Maze Exploring a corn maze is a great way to get outside and enjoy the crisp weather. Queens Farm is a favorite among New Yorkers, with their popular Maze by Moonlight event that happens every year. It's a 3-acre interactive walk that will have you solving puzzles and finding clues, which makes it a fun family activity to do with everyone.

Zipline Canopy Tours

This event technically isn't in the city, but it's perfect for those seeking more of a thrill this fall. New York Zipline Canopy Tours at Hunter Mountain is the highest and longest zipline in North America and the second largest in the world. While this might not be for everyone, it's worth a shot if you've ever been interested in trying ziplining for yourself. We recommend trying one, a few, or all of these events this fall season. Fall lovers should also consider walking around any of the city's neighborhoods to try out some new restaurants and bars as well. Enjoy the nice weather and amazing scenery before the cold of winter hits.
